Chevening

The British Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO)'s Chevening Award Scheme offers one year postgraduate scholarships at British universities for Masters Degree studies every year.

Aimed at future leaders, opinion formers and decision makers, a Chevening award brings with it the opportunity to join a network of outstanding individuals from around the world. Annually, the Chevening programme supports around 2,300 individuals from across the globe. Among a long list of success, previous Chevening alumni include the President of Colombia, the Vice-President of Costa Rica, the King of Tonga and the Prime Ministers of Antigua & Barbuda and of Bulgaria.

A typical successful applicant would be:

  • a graduate with proven academic skills and good English Language
  • a young professional (between 25 - 40 years of age) in early to mid career with a track record of achievement in the workplace.
  • committed to return to Qatar and contribute to the socio-economic development of Qatar. (Applications from Qatari nationals are particularly welcome.)
  • able to communicate a clear idea of how their scholarship will benefit Qatar on their return.

The application deadline for the 2009 academic year has already passed. Opportunities for the 2010 academic year will be advertised in the local media and this website in due course. Applicants who are short-listed will be contacted to attend interviews.
