How to legalise a document

New guidelines introduced by Qatar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs have determined that all certificates (of both a business and personal nature) must first be authenticated in the country of their origin by the respective Ministry of Foreign Affairs. British documents should be notarised first by a UK solicitor and then by the Legalisation Department at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. Further information is available on the Legalisation section of the FCO Website.

British citizens planning to come to live and work in Qatar should be aware that in addition to educational certificates, birth and marriage certificates must also be authenticated in order to complete the country's residency procedures.
